Below are pictures of the Cadillacs in action at the March 16, 2005 taping of a PBS fund-raiser at the Sands Casino in Atlantic City. Here's what the photographer, Juicefree, had to say:
Following the emotional appearance of the great Levi Stubbs & The Four Tops,
were Speedoo & The Cadillacs. From an emotional standpoint, that could have been
a difficult act to follow. Professionals that Speedoo & The Cadillacs are, they
came through with flying colors.
First of all, they came out there looking SHARP!!! That's what's missing from so
many of todays' acts. They come out on stage, pants hanging off of their asses,
in T-shirts & just looking like escapees from The Little Rascals. But every one
of these groups were dressed tastefully & classy.
The second thing that stood out is that these gentlemen came to PERFORM. Speedoo
& The Cadillacs were singing, strutting & doing their thing. As a 44 year old,
their constant moving & energy made me feel ashamed of myself. As I watched them
moving across that stage, visions of joining a health club drifted through my
mind!
Speedoo & The Cadillacs GAVE...IT...UP & held nothing back! They are consumate
performers & the crowd thoroughly enjoyed their set. Speedoo & The Cadillacs
filled me with wonder & a sense of pride. Lord knows that these pioneers are
still sounding great & in a perfect world, they'd be headlining monthly at the
biggest & best venues everywhere. They are indeed worthy of that. God bless you
gentlemen!
To paraphrase Brenton Wood, "Check out them suits, now, check out them
suits......"
In a more informal setting, here's the group on the way to Las Vegas by way of Boston in the spring of 2001. On the left is guitarist and musical director John Michael Hersey. On the right is bassist Bob DesJardins and next to him is drummer Richard Ruiz.
